The purpose of this thesis was to analyze the social media marketing strategies of Goldvana, a recently launched startup who provides a nanotech-enhanced CBD brand, analyze the survey data from over 930 respondents, and make recommendations for Goldvana to improve its social media marketing strategy going forward.
After overviewing the science and efficacy of CBD, its legal background, industry trends, and best practices, this thesis will review Goldvana’s offerings, differentiation, and previous social media strategies.
Then, this thesis analyzes the data of a qualtrics survey sent to 933 respondents. Among the most interesting trends found were consumers’ heavy prioritization of the credibility of CBD brands, the suggested benefits that consumers were most strongly influenced by (stress relief, pain relief, headache relief), the strong preference of Instagram as a platform to engage with brands on, and significant correlations between CBD use and which benefits of CBD (as well as unique benefits of Goldvana) that consumers consider in their purchasing decision.
After analyzing the primary data, industry trends, and best practices, I make three categories of recommendations for Goldvana to revamp its current social media marketing strategy. These recommendations include new tactics for our content strategy, insight on how rebranding may benefit Goldvana, and ideas to install advertisement campaigns that are compliant with the guidelines of both social media platforms and the FDA.

This thesis analyzes the process through which sustainability communication occurs between organizations and stakeholders. The lack of frameworks connecting research in the sustainability and communication fields highlights the need for a cohesive modelization of the sustainability communication process. This process forms the basis of the Action, Perception, Risk (APR) model, a framework that I have created. The APR model builds on existing sustainability and communication research to provide a practical illustration of the sustainability communication process, connecting the theoretical realm with the practitioner realm through implementable recommendations. This is achieved through a literature review and a case study of the American footwear company, Allbirds. Managerial implications are discussed and recommendations for effective sustainability communication are put forward.

The purpose of this project is to explore minority mentorship through a series of interviews recorded and shared in a podcast-like format. I sat down with student leaders, Arizona State University faculty, and community leaders in the Phoenix Metropolitan area who have been both a mentor and mentee at some point in their life to learn about the impact mentorship had on their experiences.

My thesis was conducted in two parts, one with the creative aspect, which was competing in Venture Devils competition with my NGO pitch-deck. The second aspect was a written portion to explain the research I have done through my creative project, and competing in Venture Devils. I began this project in my ENT 360 class in 2020, with Professor Sebold, so I began gathering research then. I worked with Hope Women's Center, a local non-profit, to understand what needs underprivileged women have and how my venture can support those needs. I came up with a venture pitch that provides peer mentoring, networking, and financial literacy to women.

Social Entrepreneurship has become a major trend in the business world. Social entrepreneurship is a form of business where the primary goal is to create a successful business and use the resources of the company to help solve a social issue. This thesis covers several modern examples of social entrepreneurship and the positive effects these businesses have had on the world around them. After analyzing several ventures, the paper moves on to describe Wolvertech and the reasons behind its creation and the inspiration for the various programs at Wolvertech. Wolvertech is a gunsmithing company which hopes to create a positive change on the environment through the funding conservation of efforts. Wolvertech also plans to create a scholarship and mentorship program that encourages high school graduates to attend trade schools. After discussing the goals of Wolvertech the thesis moves onto describe leadership styles as well as initial ideas for setting the company up for success. Next is the marketing plan and what products will be offered at Wolvertech. The thesis finishes with the timeline for what Wolvertech hopes to accomplish in the future.

In this thesis, we surveyed homeless individuals at the Saint Vincent de Paul homeless shelter to discover any trends amongst the homeless population in the areas of mental health and quality of life, as well as the effectiveness of the shelter for homeless individuals. Our overall findings show us that not only is the shelter successful in assisting homeless individuals in their daily lives and quality of lives, but friends and family play a crucial role in supporting homeless individuals as well.

This project involved the researchers conducting interviews at the Saint Vincent de Paul homeless shelter in downtown Phoenix. Interviews were transcribed into quantifiable data that was then used for data analysis. Our goal was to see how effective, or ineffective, the shelter was at improving the lives of its clients. Ultimately, our research suggests that the shelter does improve the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness. We hope this research will be used as evidence to support the shelter's efforts to receive more funding to improve its services.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death, globally, with an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018, according to the World Health Organization. However, this is not the only impact cancer has on affected individuals, as death rates only capture the mortality of cancer, there are still detrimental effects cancer has on quality of life. Newer therapies for cancer attempt to circumvent these unwanted detriments, such as hormone therapy, stem cell transplants, targeted therapy, etc.3. One such novel therapy being virotherapy, which is the subject of this study. This study follows the observations of the myxoma virus (MYXV), a prototypic poxvirus which belongs to the Leporipoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family. This method allows larger particles to enter host cells through the process of overriding host cell endocytosis pathways, with a few exceptions. Interestingly, research has shown that MYXV has been able to infect multiple types of tumor cells of non-rabbit species both in vitro and in vivo, in not only humans but murine, rodent, species as well. This allows MYXV to pose as a potential virotherapy for human cancer cells. McFadden research lab has been researching the role of the exportin 1 protein (XPO1), also known as the chromosome maintenance region-1 (CRM-1). It is suspected that the XPO1 pathway may be one of the evasion mechanisms that MYXV utilizes as an antiviral response. KPT-330 (Selinexor) is a selective inhibitor of nuclear transport (SINE) drug that was designed as the first-in-human oral FDA approved cancer treatment. It has been shown effectiveness in inhibiting XPO1 in multiple lines of cancer cells, such as the Lewis Lung Carcinoma (LLC1) cells researched in this study. McFadden research lab has been examining the effects of various Selinexor concentrations along with different multiplicities of infection (MOIs) of MYXV to determine the best combination that can be used to reduce tumor size at the highest effectiveness. Overall, Selinexor is not increasing cell killing through a synergistic means, but rather simply by increasing the ability of MYXV to infect and spread in LLC1 cells. This then causes increased cell killing given that more LLC1 cells are penetrated by the OV and “suffocated” by the prevention of exporting essential proteins from the nucleus to their respectively critical final destinations in the cancer cells.
