Chutneys are a form of Indian condiment that can be made in many different flavors and paired with various foods. However, the availability of chutneys in the United States is very limited and many people have not tried them before. With this observation in mind, we founded A2Z Chutneys, which is a business that aims to distribute a variety of organic and locally produced chutneys. Through the Founders Lab program, A2Z Chutneys was created and research was conducted to justify the viability of our business. We were able to gather and interpret data from potential customers, which allowed us to identify a target market. Additionally, time was spent identifying and creating a variety of authentic and unique chutneys that have proven to be desired. This report demonstrates and outlines the feasibility of A2Z Chutneys in providing unique and desirable flavors to the population.

There is a serious lack of local news in Arizona, the American Southwest, and the United States at-large. Arizonans are craving quality, factual, no-holds-barred journalism that is easy-to-read, and upfront. Quality, local news that covers the ins and outs of politics, culture, and community has an opportunity to not only enhance civic life, promote community healing, and expand knowledge made available to the general public (thus serving the communities it calls home), but to also generate revenue. Further, independent and center-right leaning voters in the state of Arizona — be reminded that independents make up the second largest voting bloc among Arizonans — are often crowded out in a media environment that consists of far-left nonprofit-funded news sites like the Arizona Mirror, formerly reputable papers that have bled readership as they veer further left like the Arizona Republic, and far-right online blogs that reach a very limited audience. The Western Tribune is an Arizona-based journalistic publication. This institution is dedicated to providing high-quality, well-sourced news and commentary on statewide, regional, national, and international current affairs through the lens of good government and free enterprise — as well as Southwestern values. We are a free institution that believes in free institutions. We cover stories that go uncovered because of the corporate media’s blind spots (and they’ve got many — they’re a result of news deserts and out-of-touch coastal attitudes) with the stable support of a robust institution dedicated to Truth-seeking behind them. Our storytellers are not just good writers. We seek to recruit and form critical thinkers with skills that span trades, disciplines, and educational backgrounds. We are building an institution committed to excellence.

This study outlines the tenets of aesthetic utilitarianism, an approach to designing websites. We did this through careful analysis of successful websites and other published studies. We evaluated the Founders Lab and New Venture Challenge websites using these tenets. Our findings show that neither website adheres to aesthetic utilitarian principles. We propose changes that would bring the websites in line with these principles. Finally, we created designs to show what these changes may look like in practice.

This paper describes the process of starting a sustainable fashion business, Happy Lola Collective, with the goal of saving all clothes from ever ending up in a landfill. The Business Model Canvas was used to flesh out the original business idea, treated as a series of hypotheses which were then tested over the next nine months. Our results were broken down and used to plan future changes for Happy Lola.

This paper outlines cumulative research on food deserts in relation to college students; namely, that there are communities classified as food deserts because significant numbers of the population lack access to grocery stores selling fresh produce or other goods normally called “healthy.” These areas are often also food swamps, or areas with intense access to sugar-dense, high-fat foods. Research as a whole suggests that three, among many, things might primarily drive food insecurity for individuals caught in these food deserts: lack of access to a personal vehicle, low income or prohibitively expensive healthy foods, and personal education or culture (Wright, 2016). College students both fit into the geographical food deserts and are individuals who tend to have a worrying level of food insecurity (Kim, 2018). It is costly to make adjustments to entire environments to rid communities of food desert qualities, and it is not always effective as ending food insecurity or malnutrition; instead, it can be much more effective to focus on individuals within communities and help push cultures into a better direction. This project demonstrates that ASU students are experiencing food dissatisfaction and are in a food desert worthy of attention and action, and that students are motivated to see a solution. The solution that the paper focuses on is a food delivery system of fresh produce and foods for students.

I researched what was occurring in the informal economy in Europe and was looking for a growth in both countries, but one faster than the other. I compared a developed vs. less developed country within Europe to help me decipher what was going on in Europe from two very different countries. I have family ties to Germany which is why I wanted to research Germany and chose Croatia because it is interesting to me. The lack of quantitative research available led me to think about how we are measuring the informal economy and what aspects go into it. I reached a conclusion that the informal economy wasn’t shrinking but changing its shape depending on its environment which is why Gross Domestic Product does not accurately measure the informal economy.

The goal of Dough is to create financial content that educates college students and young adults in areas of financial literacy. College students and young adults generally have debt from student loans, and typically don't have much time to work as they focus on school and earn their degree. Financial literacy can make the lives of young adults much easier, however this is typiclly not a resource that is easily available to them. Our proposed solution to fight the lack of finacial literacy is to create educational content including videos, articles, and a website that educates students and young adults on how to acquire good financial habits.
