The Refugee Education and Clinic Team (REACT) is a local organization led by students at Arizona State University and the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine with the purpose of improving the health of refugees and asylees. One way in which REACT aims to improve the health of refugees and asylees is through health education workshops, which inform refugees about health conditions and management options. The purpose of this project was to analyze how REACT’s health education workshop about obesity impacted refugees’ understanding of healthy living. This project implemented a pre- and post-presentation survey at REACT’s obesity workshop to measure refugees’ understanding of healthy living. Overall, a pre-existing understanding of the importance of healthy eating and daily exercise was measured and an improvement in their understanding of the symptoms associated with obesity was recorded.

The concept of Nature Made Candles was to “educate candle lovers on the importance of knowing what is in the candle. Everyone should know what they are inhaling...no matter how nice (or not) it smells. Earth needed a candle for enjoying scents and sights without hindering health, so we made one.” The objective evolved into educating the student population of Arizona State University (ASU) about what ingredients go into commercial candles, with a particular focus on the wax and scent, as well as giving students a free candle that emulated the holistic ingredients they were educated on. This project was designed to be a quality improvement and health promotion project with an emphasis on the ASU student population. The purpose of the project was to find a type of candle that was friendly to the lungs of all individuals who wanted candles in their household.

The purpose of this study is to learn about registered nurses' thoughts and experiences about the use of music and music therapy in the nursing field and whether or not nurses believe that there is supporting evidence practicing music therapy. Through an online survey administered to a local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society via SurveyMonkey, the study will 1) Assess the awareness and knowledge that registered nurses have regarding the use of music in the medical field. 2) Understand bedside nurses' willingness to use music as a complementary medicine in their own practices. 3) Ascertain where and how bedside nurses get knowledge about the use of music in the medical field. 4) Determine what constraints or barriers may influence bedside nurses' utilization of music in their practice. 5) The study will also examine the extent to which bedside nurses have had experience with observing music therapy or have utilized music therapists in their own practice.
