SnackHax is a Founder's Lab venture that specializes in creating customized snack packages tailored to the needs of college students. Our packages include a variety of high-quality snacks designed to boost energy, support cognitive function, and promote overall wellness. With a focus on quality, affordability, and convenience, SnackHax aims to become the go-to source for students seeking nutritious and convenient snack packages. SnackHax is also looking to expand its product offerings to increase customer acquisition as well as expanding into other markets. Our thesis comprised of conducting market research and customer development to determine SnackHax's market fit and target customer. This was done through several tabling sessions on the Polytechnic and Tempe campuses where the team collected valuable data through the form of surveys, detailed observations, and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs). During the second semester, SnackHax finalized the products and began to offer them at the tabling events starting in the middle of February. Additionally, SnackHax made it into the New Venture Challenge course, led by Scott Wald, which helped further solidify the business and gain additional traction in the form of interest from investors. SnackHax finished the semester with 23 sales and a total revenue of $311.78.

Due to monumental advancements in large language models (LLMs), such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, there is widespread interest in integrating this general AI’s capabilities into various applications, including robotics. However, the rush to deploy this technology has left safety as an afterthought, if at all. This study investigates the potential for LLM-fused robots to operate safely in real-world settings. This study begins with a review of ChatGPT, highlighting its capabilities and current challenges, particularly with integrating LLMs into robotics, and continues with similar applications as AI agents though APIs. To assess the safety implications of LLM-driven robots, the study presents experimental methods involving the navigation of a TurtleSim robot in 2D environments when given different scenarios. Various parameters are analyzed to determine the current capabilities of ChatGPT to understand how to adjust any agents it possesses based on the situation. Current findings reveal that ChatGPT-driven robots demonstrate adaptive behavior based on the scenario provided, indicating their potential for real-time safety adjustments and eliciting further research to ensure safe and successful integration of these robots into diverse work environments.

The majority of the public is not aware that common objects in their backyard can be mosquito breeding sites, thus leading to an increase in mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases affecting humans and animals during the peak seasons. An engaging app that instructs people of all ages how to identify, prevent, and eliminate breeding sites may be of use in increasing positive behavioral changes in people, and therefore reducing available breeding sites for mosquitoes. The Embodied Games Lab in Psychology at Arizona State University created an educational game phone app using machine learning to teach students how to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites. Skeeter Breeder is an interactive, educational game that teaches participants about potential mosquito breeding sites and how to eliminate them from the immediate environment as documented by smartphone imagery. Currently, there is no educational game phone app that uses machine learning to teach this topic. This Thesis describes a pilot study focused on educating about common mosquito breeding sites and increasing the knowledge of 5th graders on the topic through an agentic (by taking their own pictures), engaging (game-like platform with rewards), and interactive (receiving immediate feedback on pictures) game developed from scratch at ASU.

Could you imagine a world without hot sauce? Unfortunately, hot sauce is a relatively new invention, and some people have had to experience and live without the wonders and flavors it provides. RAJAJE Sauce is a veteran-owned and family-operated start-up. RAJAJE Sauce originated in the heart of Mexico, known as Mexico City, where my family and I enjoy it with countless servings of tacos. My mother always dreamed of bringing this hot sauce to the market, but we weren’t sure how to go about it. There were so many questions. Was there a market for this hot sauce? Do other people like the hot sauce? Who would be our audience? How would we go about marketing this product, and how would the logistics of something like this work? Through extensive research, we found that there is plenty of room for the hot sauce industry to grow, giving RAJAJE Sauce plenty of opportunities to make a name for itself and become a household name with each new customer.

Plastic pollution is undoubtedly one of the most pressing challenges facing humanity today. Significant action is required in order to properly address this rapidly growing threat. The Circular Economy provides a promising model for solution design in terms of responsible consumption and production. Countdown: Circular Economy Solutions is an organization created by Jasmine Amoako-Agyei focused on addressing the threat of plastic pollution in the United States and Ghana, West Africa. The first part of this report will explain the severity of the global plastic pollution crisis and challenges with recycling. It will then present the Circular Economy as a viable model for a course of action. From there it will explain the efforts of Countdown: Circular Economy Solutions over the last two with a pathway forward. This venture leveraged the greater ASU ecosystem of resources such as Walton Sustainability Solutions, Precious Plastic ASU, the Luminosity Lab, Changemaker Central, Venture Devils, Engineering Projects in Community Service (ASU), Gary K. Herberger Young Scholars Academy, KNUST, and Ashesi D: Lab.

Cryptocurrencies have long since existed but only recently been in the limelight causing a lot of confusion and mixed success for investors. Within this paper I discuss why currently Bitcoin and in general cryptocurrencies are not very attractive to the Independent Investor. I compare Bitcoin to a multitude of other assets including the stock market and determine that although Bitcoin shows great upward potential Bitcoin’s downward potential is sadly staggering. I go over potential key regulations and provide a summary on the technology behind Cryptocurrencies. I predict that Cryptocurrencies will be here to stay however given the current economic outlook Cryptocurrencies are becoming a very risky investment.

This study documents and explores the process of designing a device to decrease the indoor temperature and particulate matter concentration in the air of corrugated steel homes in sub-Saharan Africa. The device, named the Roof Tube, generates power from a solar panel that goes towards powering a motor that rotates blades to output a desired airflow to draw air out from the inside environment. Excess power generated goes towards charging a battery pack during the day that then powers the motor and a light (to improve indoor living quality) during the night when the solar panel cannot collect any more energy. Calculations were done to estimate the ambient indoor temperature of a model home based on the heat transfer from the sun. From this, a rough airflow was determined to offset the temperature difference between the indoor and outdoor environment. A computational fluid dynamics test was performed to determine the effectiveness of the housing design. Results from all tests displayed a low difference between outdoor and indoor temperatures leading to a low prediction of outlet airflow. The designed device prioritized effectiveness, it displaces air at 2700 cfm and charges a 54000mAh battery pack that, when solar energy generation is cut off, can power the motor and light simultaneously for on average 3.02 hours, the motor alone for 8.88 hours, and the light alone for 4.57 hours.

The Micro-g NExT 2019 challenge set out to find a new device to replace the Apollo mission lunar contingency sampler in preparation for the 2024 Artemis mission. The 2019 challenge set a series of requirements that would enable compatibility with the new xEMU suit and enable astronauts to effectively collect and secure an initial sample upon landing. The final prototype developed by the team features a sliding plate design with each plate slightly shorter than the previous. The device utilizes the majority of the xEMU suit’s front pocket volume while still allowing space for the astronaut’s hand and the bag for the sample. Considering safety concerns, the device satisfies NASA’s requirements for manual handheld devices and poses no threat to the astronaut under standard operation. In operation, the final design experiences an acceptable level stress in the primary use direction, and an even less in the lateral direction. Using assumptions such as the depth and density of lunar soil to be sampled, the working factor of safety is about 2 for elastic deformation, but the tool can still be operated and even collapsed at roughly double that stress. Unfortunately, the scope of this thesis only covers the effectiveness of resin prototypes and simulations of aluminum models, but properly manufactured aluminum prototypes are the next step for validating this design as a successor to the design used on the Apollo missions.
