As humans, primary senses are the avenue by which the world is accessible. Communication, navigation, approbation, avoidance, and a myriad of other actions are all facilitated by these senses. This model has sustained humanity for millennia. But what happens when this system breaks down: when those senses are no longer enough? These are the questions at the heart of this work. 3 methods of enquiry have been undertaken here. Explorations in science outreach present opportunities to examine analogy and extend the senses to unassailable times and places. Dabbling in artistic science reveals the wealth of possibility to be gained by posing open questions and sharing narratives. Finally in probing the interiors at icy ocean moons, organic chemistry and thermodynamics are applied to interpret messages from alien worlds. Each instance of information deprivation offers opportunities to innovate, fresh perspectives, and novel ideas.
