The purpose of this study was to assess the lasting impact of discriminatory laws in shaping the experience of different minorities interested in participation in higher education. The study examined the ways in which discriminatory laws have barred certain minorities’ ability and access to pursue a higher education. The impact of these discriminatory laws in pursuing higher education continues today. To examine this impact, I conducted a cross-analysis and referenced various previous research studies. Through my research, I identified important common themes, including Generational Impact, Systemic Inequality, and Legal and Policy Implications, which contributed to the lasting impact of discriminatory laws on minority students’ access to higher education.
